The Portiuncula Indulgence

The Portiuncula Indulgence, also known as The Pardon of Assisi, is a grace not to be missed—not only for yourself but for the suffering souls in Purgatory.

The Indulgence, if the person gaining it is free from every sin including venial sin, remits all the temporal punishment due to sin and may be applied to the person himself or herself or to a soul in Purgatory. If there is any adherence to sin in the person gaining the Indulgence, the Indulgence becomes partial.

The conditions to obtain the Portiuncula Indulgence are as follows:

1. Visit a parish church on August 2, Feast of Our Lady of the Angels, and pray the Apostles Creed and the Our Father.

2. Participate in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and receive Holy Communion in the state of grace (preferably on the same day the Indulgence is sought).

3. Pray for the Holy Father’s Intention (such as an Our Father, Hail Mary, etc.).

4. Go to Confession to receive sacramental absolution (within 20 days before or after August 2nd).

Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church will be open from 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM on August 2nd for those who wish to obtain the Portiuncula Indulgence.

Tell everyone of the magnitude of this gift. Once again, we see the unfathomable Divine Mercy of God.

Back-to-School Party

Friendly Reminder: Tomorrow, Aug 2, IHM is sponsoring a Back-to-School Party from 1pm-4pm in Founders' Hall. All IHM youth, grades K-12, are welcome to attend. There will be Food, Fun, Games and Prizes. See flyer below and please let our youth come out and join us!

Parish Religious Education Program (PREP}

PREP Registration begins Monday, August 4, at 9am in Founders' Hall. Please come and register your child/children for the 2025-2026 Year. If you know anyone that is eligible for PREP please have their parents contact Jacque' Mathews at 337-436-8093. Also, if you know of any young adult who has received the sacraments of Baptism, Penance, and First Eucharist but not Confirmation please have them contact Jacque' Mathews at the same mentioned number above.

PREP Classes will begin Sunday, September 14, 2025 at 9:45am - 10:45am. We will also have a parent meeting on that day at 10:15am until student pick up at 10:45am. PARENTS, PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ATTEND THIS IMPORTANT MEETING! We will be discussing parental involvement, student attendance, student expectations, and Safe Environment. See you all soon!
